Sunday 3rd February - Pyramid Judo Club Competition
Report by Alison
New Star win Pyramid Competition Team Trophy by 6 clear points!
11 players entered and they won 13 medals - 6 golds, 6 silvers & 1 bronze!
All the players gave 100% (and may be a little bit more!)
First up was Kieran, U22kg, a little nervous as it was his first competition.
He lost his first but came back to win his next fight and went on to win Silver!
Finley fought in u26kg, more confident than at his first competition, he won 2 out of 3
of his fights, both with Ippon, only losing to our own Cameron Nelson, who won all 3 of his
with Ippons to take gold!
Only two girls in our team, first up was Amy, losing her first fight, but winning the 2nd with a
convincing Ippon, nearly having Alison banned for shouting "turn your head"! BJC rules, you
can only shout encouragement or playes names, to avoid this in the future, from now on
Amy, u36kg, will be known as "turn your head"! Well done Amy on your silver.
Ryan "mumbles" was in two groups! Having 5 fights, with two Ippons, one only 7 seconds!
He won 2 golds!
Then came Ben, u50kg with mumbles having won two medals it was a hard at for a big brother to follow!
Ben also managed a 7 second Ippon, going on to win the silver!
Myles & Dominic were up next, u35kg, both won two fights each, with Ippons, then had to fight each other!
After too much smiling, Myles was a Yoku up! Dominc managed to pull back a yuko with 12 seconds
to go, causing a Hand Tei - the referree awarding the fight to Myles! Myles took Gold and Dominc took silver.
Sam Dorrington, u36kg, was up after a long wait! He had 3 quick Ippons to win the Gold.
Mollie, only our 2nd girls in the team was then in u40 & u44 weight groups! Not quite as many fights as
"Mumbles" lost her first u40 fight, then went on to win the rest, 3 with Ippons! Winning silver in u40 &
gold in u44's!
Last but not least was Robert in u50kg. Rob had a long wait and he was nervous, it was his first competition.
He fought extremely well, and put in more than 100% he took the bronze!
A great TEAM effort! Well done, once again THANK YOU to all the supporters!
